About this font

Source Han Sans represents Adobe's first Pan-CJK typeface family. Source Han Sans Japanese supports JIS X 0208, JIS X 0213, and JIS X 0212, and is JIS2004-savvy. All Adobe-Japan1-6 kanji are supported, as well as the Adobe-Japan1 IVD Collection. The design is moderately modern in style with simplified strokes and a monolinear quality. This makes text clearer and more readable on smaller devices such as tablets and smart phones. Despite its simplification, Source Han Sans retains much of the elegance of a traditional gothic (sans serif) typeface design, providing a high level of readability for text consisting of single lines or short phrases as found in software menus, as well as for longer texts as found in ebooks. Source Han Sans is the product of cooperation between Adobe and Google, and involved work by four type foundries: Adobe, Changzhou SinoType (China), Iwata (Japan), and Sandoll (Korea). The fonts are also available on GitHub.
